Causaly raises $60M Series B to put trustworthy AI in the hands of science

ICONIQ Growth leads the round as the London startup we backed early now counts 12 of the world’s top 20 pharma companies as customers

We’re thrilled to share that Causaly, the AI platform for drug discovery and biomedical research, has raised $60M in a Series B led by ICONIQ Growth, with participation from returning investors Index Ventures, Marathon Venture Capital, EBRD, Pentech and Visionaries Club – plus strategic angels including former Johnson & Johnson chairman and CEO Alex Gorsky and Datadog co-founder Olivier Pomel. The round takes total funding to $93M.

Pharma is the hardest market in software: eighteen-month sales cycles, validation committees, zero tolerance for a wrong answer. Causaly went from founding to the front rank of global pharma in five years, by building what the industry actually demanded – a system that shows the evidence behind every connection it surfaces. Scientists’ standards at startup speed; that’s what we backed in Yiannis and Artur.

A new drug still takes more than a decade to develop, and roughly nine in ten candidates fail in clinical trials – often because the original bet on the biology was wrong. Better bets are already sitting in the literature, scattered across millions of research papers no human team can possibly read together. Just one connection missed there is a treatment that arrives years late, or never.

Causaly’s biomedical knowledge graph and generative AI let scientists find and verify those connections in minutes, with the transparency high-stakes research demands.

Causaly now works with 12 of the world’s top 20 pharmaceutical companies, alongside the FDA and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, and recently tripled both revenue and customer base.

“Every drug that arrives a year earlier is success measured in lives. Who wants to constrain that simply as a result of how fast humans can read? From our first meeting, Yiannis and Artur were clear that scientists wouldn’t trust a black box, however clever it seemed – every answer had to show its working. That discipline looks prophetic now. The fastest route to new medicines requires trust, and Causaly built it first.”

This funding will extend Causaly’s product lead, expand commercial relationships and scale the team globally.

Congratulations, Yiannis, Artur and team! Cause, meet effect
