Modern Relay raises $3M to build the shared infrastructure layer for enterprise AI

The San Fran and Barcelona-based startup has come out of stealth with Omnigraph, an open-source context graph for agent-native teams

The secret’s finally out! We’re thrilled to announce our investment in Modern Relay, the startup building shared knowledge infrastructure for AI agents in the enterprise. The $3M (€2.5M) round brings us in alongside Point Nine, Amino Collective, Common Magic and Masia, plus angels including former Microsoft head of corporate strategy Charlie Songhurst.

Every company will soon run hundreds, possibly thousands, of agents across every department. Without a shared foundation connecting them, those agents create fragmentation rather than progress: context scattered across tools, decisions nobody can trace, knowledge that decays the moment its owner leaves the building.

When Ragnor Comerford first walked us through his vision, what struck us was the conviction behind every design choice. Build it open source, because infrastructure this important shouldn’t be a black box. Run it on the customer’s own machines, because trust is the product. This is a founder who’s thought hard about what enterprises will actually be able to live with – and it shows.

Their first product, Omnigraph, is an open-source, Git-style graph database where agents and people work in paralle – branching, proposing changes and merging approved updates into one canonical source of organisational truth. Crucially, it runs entirely on infrastructure the customer owns.

“The last two years have been about what models can do. The next ten are about whether organisations can actually trust what agents do with their knowledge. Ragnor saw that shift earlier than almost anyone we’ve met, and this team is building the infrastructure for it in the open, where it belongs.”

Jan, Emerge

The funding will go towards product development and early adoption as the team brings Omnigraph to enterprise teams on both sides of the Atlantic.

Ragnor – welcome to the Emerge community. Let’s build.
